A major company is relocating and adding to the growth of an East Texas city.
The Lindale Economic Development Corporation said FedEx is building a distribution facility in the new "Lindale Industrial Park".
"This project has been over 18 months coming together. It's a huge project for Lindale. It's the first project in our Industrial Park It's going to help put our industrial park on the map," said President of LEDC, John Clary.
"It's a great event for Lindale and we are excited about it. It is not just six years in the making our industrial park, but 20 years since we put in our Economic Development Cooperation. This is the kind of thing we were headed for when we started out 20 years ago," said Chairman of LEDC Barham Fulmer.
The FedEx Distribution Center will sit on 10 acres of this property, leaving plenty of space for more tenants.
"So, we own all of this property toward Harvey Road and as far as you see this way, we own that much more going that way," pointed Clary as he stood on a hill overlooking the property.
"Right across the road from each other there will be a Target Distribution Center and a FedEx Distribution Center, two nationally known companies that we don't have to explain to anybody who they are," explained Fulmer.
The board said FedEx is an anchor tenant that validates their Industrial Park and it always helps to sell real estate when you've got that prime location.
"They're just a few hundred yards from Interstate 20 and about a quarter mile from Toll 49, it's a huge intersection and then a mile the other way to U.S. 69. So, people are seeing logistically what a great spot this is," said Fulmer.
The expected completion date of the FedEx Distribution Center is June of 2014.
The board said FedEx is in the process of consolidating two Tyler locations, eventually moving them under one roof in Lindale. They hope other businesses will soon neighbor that distribution center, bringing new jobs to the area.
