Springfield Local Schools received an honor from the state auditor's office.
Administrators are thrilled to receive a perfect audit. Their treasurer has been here for two years and believes this is the first time the school has received the Auditor of State award.
On Tuesday, Springfield Local Schools was the recipient of State Auditor Dave Yost's Auditor of State award. His office is responsible for auditing all public entities in the state. The goal is to protect taxpayers money.
Treasurer Ryan Lockwood says this honor proves they are being fiscally prudent with taxpayer dollars.
"Our efforts here are to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, and in this time that, you know, governments are taking a hit for having less money, and some governments having to go back out there and ask for money, you know, I think this award helps to showcase how well some government entities are truly doing," said Lockwood.
Superintendent Kathryn Hott says the perfect audit is just one of the many good things happening in the Springfield School District.
"We are just riding a wave of good things, lots of good things for our kids. Our kids are doing phenomenal things. We're just - it's just a really exciting time in Springfield schools and we'll continue to share the good news as it comes. But, everyday we've been getting good news, and we're really proud of it. It's a reflection of the great job that my staff and our kids do, and the support of our community for Springfield schools," said Hott.
Not only has Springfield received a perfect audit, they are excelling academically, having been rated excellent or excellent with distinction for the last four years.
