Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez said during a press conference, she's still gathering input before making an official decision on running for mayor of Toledo. Is she, or isn't she? The speculation continues to heat up surrounding Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez entering the race for Toledo mayor this year.
While Democratic Party insiders continue to say it's a matter of when and not a matter of if she'll run, Lopez during a Thursday press conference said she's still gathering community input before making an official decision.
"As of today, I'm still meeting with businesses, citizens, organizations. I understand citizens are anxious. I'm also approached it seems like every day. I'm very excited about the opportunities that may exist," said Lopez.
Should Lopez announce her bid, she'll join Mayor Mike Bell, Councilman Joe McNamara, Alan Cox, Opal Covey and Michael Konwinski, who have all announced their intentions to run. The top two finishers in the September primary election will square off in the November election.
