Indians fans can experience the thrill of being a Major League ballplayer by registering for the team's One Day Baseball Experience at Progressive Field on May 11.
Participants each will play a doubleheader, with games lasting seven innings, and will be provided two replica jerseys, a pair of baseball pants, hat, belt and one pair of socks. Players also have the option to personalize their jerseys for an added cost.
Participants must bring their own glove and spikes, but wooden bats, baseballs and helmets will be provided by the Indians. As part of the experience, players' names will be displayed on the scoreboard at Progressive Field, and they'll receive a special lunch on the Budweiser Patio and commemorative gifts including a T-shirt and on-field team photo.
Indians greats Len Barker and Joe Charboneau are scheduled to serve as team managers for the day's competition, while certified umpires also will be on hand. Teams will be comprised of 10 people, and participants can register individually or as a team.
Parking is provided in the Indians Players' lot, at the corner of Carnegie and East Ninth Street. Families and friends are encouraged to attend, and will be admitted free, though only uniformed participants have access to the playing field.
The deadline for signing up is April 12, and spots rapidly filling up. Cost is $595 per person, and fans can register by visiting Indians.com/HostedEvents or by calling our Hosted Events department at 216-420-4840.
