Residents in a south Toledo community are seeing their country-like view change.
The project on Walbridge Avenue is part of the Toledo Waterways Initiative. The sewer station there is being expanded and rebuilt, and in the process, several trees in the neighborhood are being removed.
One Walbridge resident said the sewer project taking place across her street was a surprise to her.
"All of a sudden, everything's being torn down," she said, wishing to remain anonymous.
The resident was told by an official she should have received a letter explaining the project, but she says she never received such a letter.
"I don't know what to do," she said. "You can't stop progress, but I think it would have been considerate of them to come and, you know, at least explain it to us, what's happening. Not just come and take everything out like they did."
A response was unavailable from the city due to the holiday.
