Companies near Conant and Dussel in Maumee have been dealing with the inconvenience of construction interfering with business, but local store owners have hope: Framework is up for a new Kroger on Dussel Drive.
Many businesses in the area have grown accustomed to seeing cones and slower traffic. Besides the construction on Dussel, Conant Street has also been seeing construction lately, with smoother roads being paved and new sidewalks being installed.
It has been busy and quite congested. It has been hurting some businesses in the area, but there is hope. Construction is under way for a new Kroger store with projected entrances on Conant and Dussel.
It sits in the backyard of Sidelines Bar and Grill, but the owner is looking forward to the traffic.
"Our other three locations are near a Kroger and they do such a great job marketing and bringing people in. It's a very busy store and we feel we benefit from that, so we love the fact they're going to be in town," said Eric Sitter, owner of Sidelines Bar and Grill.
Sitter says he expects business to jump 5 to 10 percent, and looks forward to all the construction being completed by the beginning of summer.
