If you've got a creative kid with an eye for the camera, the Sylvania Community Arts Commission is looking for you!
They're currently looking for students from kindergarten through eighth grade. The Tree City Film Festival is offering a "shortie" challenge, which is a three to five-minute short film. You can use your iPod, cell phone, or any other digital video device.
The goal is to get kids involved in the art of filmmaking. This is the first year for the contest, which even offers a panel of celebrity judges, including two who are writers for Saturday Night Live.
"Last year was their first year to do Maple and Main, which was a fine arts festival. And, this year we wanted to do a 50-hour shoot and see what comes of that. So, we're excited, and hopefully we'll do this every year now," said Carol Del Signore, co-chair of the Tree City Film Festival.
The festival will take place April 12 and 13. The event will include screening premieres and awards handed out from Nickelodeon, as well as cash prizes.
