SWANTON, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Swanton Police say they have come up with an innovative way to keep students safe, and it will not cost the district or the department a dime.
School leaders and department officials are working to develop a plan that would move a Swanton Police officer into an office inside the high school building. The officer would still conduct road patrols as normal, but work out of the school building rather than the police department.
"The Swanton local school district puts the safety of the students and the staff at the forefront and we will continue to do that and looking at what we will continue to look at what we need to do to provide the safest learning environment," said Swanton Local School District Superintendent Jeff Schlade.
The department and district are currently working to finalize the details of the plan.
