The Toledo Public School Board of Education could decide on an interim superintendent Monday, after narrowing down the search to two candidates.
The first candidate is Dr. Romules Durant, who is currently assistant superintendent for TPS, as well as the only person within TPS to apply for the job. Also in the running is Douglas Heuer, who is the current superintendent at Cleveland Heights-University Heights.
After the special meeting, board members went into executive session, interviewing the final two candidates.
TPS officials are currently in negotiations with Durant.
TPS Superintendent Dr. Jerome Pecko announced his retirement at the end of January. He will step down at the end of his current term on July 31.
Nicole Collier will have a breaking news update tonight starting on WTOL 11 News at 5.
