Troopers seize nearly $17K in Rx pills in Wood County

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Tennessee man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 704 prescriptions pills, worth nearly $17,000, during a traffic stop in Wood County Monday.

Troopers stopped a 2004 PT Cruiser with Tennessee registration for a following too closely violation on Interstate 75 near milepost 183 in Wood County at 12:45 a.m. Criminal indicators were observed and a Rossford Police Department drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle.

A probable cause search revealed a baggie containing 372 Hydrocodone pills, 149 Alprazolam pills, 88 Oxycodone pills, and 95 Oxymorphone pills.

The driver, Brandon Hackett, 27, of Chattanooga, TN, was incarcerated in the Wood County Jail.

He has been charged with the following:

-Two counts of trafficking in Oxycodone, second-degree felonies

-Two counts of possession of Oxycodone, second-degree felonies

-Trafficking of Oxymorphone, a third-degree felony

-Possession of Oxymorphone, a third-degree felony

-Possession of Alprazolam, a third-degree felony

-Trafficking in Alprazolam, a fourth-degree felony

-Five counts of trafficking in Hydrocodone, a fifth-degree felony

-Five counts of possession of Hydrocodone, a first-degree misdemeanor

If convicted, Hackett could face up to 45 1/2 years in prison and up to a $92,500 fine.
