STRONGSVILLE, OH (WOIO) -

After meeting for nearly 14 hours on Monday, the SEA and the school board wrapped up negotiations with no deal.

The school board said they are standing by their last best offer and no new talks, at this point, are scheduled.

The Education Association said they are no closer to a deal then they were ten month ago. They also said that 1% of the striking teachers have returned to work.

Strongsville City Council will hold a special council meeting Tuesday, April 9, to consider Resolution 2013-090. This resolution supports the students in the Strongsville School District.

It also urges both the Strongsville Board of Education and Strongsville Education Association to resolve their pending dispute and work stoppage as soon as possible.

Monday marked the beginning of the sixth week of the teachers strike.

The district is asking teachers to pay more of the healthcare costs. The union wants to unfreeze a merit pay system the district had.
