For years dentists have been advocating for fluoride in water, arguing the benefits greatly outweigh the risk. Dr. Steven Lantzy, a dentist at Corner Dental in Toledo says, "The CDC believes putting fluoride in the water is one of the biggest advances in health in the 20th century."
But, many dentists now say that the amount of fluoride is in more products today than ever before.
That's causing dentists locally to see more occurrences of a condition that causes a change in the appearance of the tooth enamel. And it's affecting kids.
WTOL 11's Ashley James talked to local dentists about this growing problem. She found out which drinks could be more likely to trigger the condition - and what products can make it worse.
