ERIE COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The search continues for a Sandusky father and daughter who went missing after kayaking on Lake Erie over the weekend.

Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth says the Ohio Division of Watercraft used a boat Wednesday morning to navigate the shoreline of Sandusky Bay looking for the missing kayakers. At the same time, members of a volunteer fire department walked the shoreline looking for Jonathan Francis, 30, and his daughter Viola, 12.

Sigsworth says a thunderstorm and chances of additional stormy weather ended those efforts. He says heavy rain forecast the next 24 hours will keep volunteers from searching for the bodies.

According to the sheriff, no formal search is scheduled. On Tuesday, search crews went underwater, but were unsuccessful. Search efforts by the Coast Guard on Sunday were also unsuccessful.

The bodies have not yet been recovered.
