The weather may not be enough to keep people away come game time, but so far, downtown Toledo looks a little empty for the Mud Hens home opener.
Around noon, the grounds crews were putting the final touches on the field.
Some of the local bars opened early Thursday, in anticipation of large crowds.
"Rain or shine, the party will be here. There's plenty of food, drinks. It will be a fun atmosphere. The team's ready to play in front of their hometown crowd," said Cheri Pastula, manager of community relations.
The Mud Hens started the season on the road and currently have a record of 1-6. They hope support from Toledo will bring them a win on Opening Day.
