(Toledo News Now) -

Some speeches and ideas are way better than others. I just heard Dr. Pam Peeke deliver a remarkable speech on food addiction.

Dr. Peeke is the author of "The Hunger Fix," which has rocketed up the New York Times bestseller list.

Her other books include Body-for-Life, Fight Fat after Forty and Fit to Live. She is an internationally-renowned expert on nutrition, metabolism, stress and fitness.

She came to town as part of the Mercy Community Leader Breakfast program, and her focus on fitness dovetails nicely with the "For Every Woman" campaign, spearheaded by Mercy President and CEO, Andrea Price.

Pam Peeke is a brilliant scientist who lays out a three-stage plan that shows you how to break an addiction to unhealthy foods. The book jacket claims The Hunger Fix is a life-changing program for anyone of any size trapped by food obsessions and the urge to overeat.

Let's face it, Americans are fat and getting fatter. It is a national health crisis. The Hunger Fix offers solutions that empower you to change your life. I'm going to read it. If you choose to do so, I hope it helps you look and feel better and live longer and healthier. That sounds like a great idea.
