Matt Szollosi says not being able to run for re-election did not factor into his plans to resign.
(Toledo News Now) -
Matt Szollosi is ending his time in the Ohio General Assembly early, as he plans to be move his family to Columbus to become director of Affiliated Construction Trades of Ohio.
Szollosi has represented portions of the Toledo area for the past seven years in the Ohio House. Even though he cannot run again for re-election due to term limits, he says that was not the main factor in his decision to step down.
"I am not a proponent of term limits; I think they're a disaster in Ohio. However, my decision had very little to do with term limits and the opportunity to go and build an organization on behalf of the wonderful hardworking men and women in the organized construction industry across the state," said Szollosi.
Szollosi says he will focus on public policy, advocacy and litigation. He says he will likely resign from the House some time in May.
