TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

In the 80s, much of the music was metal. It was loud, its performers were flamboyant, its words screaming to be noticed, and around here, nobody was being noticed more than Damien.

The band's videos got heavy rotation with the likes of Motley Crue and Rush on MTV's "Headbangers Ball."

This Saturday, Damien will be back together in Toledo for a 30th year reunion.

"You know, it is amazing that we've all lived through it," said Damien drummer Johnny Cappelletty. "We've all had ups and downs in life, obviously. Life has been a roller coaster for all of us."

Life has kept them moving on, but Damien's fan base remains loyal and large.

"It's pretty cool that people still care about our music," Cappelletty said.

The band's longevity impresses guitarist Chuck Stohl, who first assembled the group.

"A lot of bands were huge, but they were here and gone," Stohl said. "But we're still here, and gonna put on probably an outrageous show."

The show will be Saturday night at the Rocket, which was Roxanne's in the 80s. It promises to be a flashback evening, less a concert, more a reunion.

"It's a Toledo phenomenon," Lead Singer Randy V said. "It's not us playing for them, it's the whole, big family getting together for a bash."

The band shows no sign of calling it quits.

"We keep making music that's good, people keep showing up, so we figure why not?" Cappelletty said. "We still have fun doing it."
