TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The eyes of the world were drawn to Boston Monday, after two bombs killed 3 people and injured nearly two hundred others near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Among those watching were many children.  It would be nearly impossible to stop children from seeing or hearing anything about the bombings, so Toledo Psychiatrist Dr. Vishwas Mashalkar says the best thing to do is stay calm, and listen to what children have to say about the tragedy.

"Let your children know that you live in a safe place, and there are safeguards in place, such as police and other law enforcement officials, that can generally identify these episodes from happening, before they happen. So that's how they can do some reassurance," said Mashalkar.

Mashalkar also says parents should encourage children to share their thoughts and feelings about Monday's events and meet their comments with reassuring answers.
