A burning cross, a Smith county man beaten and shot by a family member, and in critical condition. We are told this is much more than a family feud, and outraged family members are calling it a "hate crime."
A 6-year-old girl is
making a big difference. After losing several loved ones to cancer, Maddy
Colatruglio is raising awareness and money, hoping for a cure.
"I wanted to make a team
for my Grandma Booth," Maddy explained.
She started her own Relay
for Life team called Maddy's Heart.
"I put a big heart on [the
shirts], because my grandma said I have a big heart," she said.
The shirts were originally
for team members only, but after Maddy's mission spread, the T-shirts have been
sold statewide and in eight other countries.
"We're so very proud of
her, she's an inspiration," said Maddy's mother Jamie Colatruglio. "With the
ideas she comes up with and the things she wants to do, she's proof that little
people can do big things."
Maddy has also decided she's
had enough of cancer, and started raising money and awareness. In the last
year, she raised more than $3,00 for the American Cancer Society.
On Saturday, she is having
a carnival at Hedges Boyer Park in Tiffin to raise even more money, and to help
out a new friend.
"First of all, we're
raising money for the Relay for Life," said Jamie. "But she's also raising
money for Savannah Tong, who is a 3-year-old in Hillsborough, Ohio, that she
learned of who is fighting a very rare and aggressive brain cancer."
