Block Watch members in Point
Place are eyeing the possibility of rolling out a new form of security to put
more eyes on the streets.
The group will welcome a
representative from Signal 88 to get more information on having mobile patrols
on their streets. Residents say they've noticed an increase lately in vandalism

The Burroughs neighborhood
has Signal 88 patrols. Homes there pay $5 per month to cover the cost. The
amount of patrols can go up based on the amount of money raised.
The Block Watch captain in
Point Place says their neighborhoods don't have as much violent crime as other
areas of Toledo, so officers assigned out there frequently get pulled away.

"If we can have this patrol
going around, they're not called away to some other area," said Al Crawford. "Know
that they're going to be out here, I think will help a lot."
Residents from the Point are
encouraged to attend the next Block Watch meeting on May 21 to learn more about
Signal 88. The representative will be there to share the costs and benefits.
