TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
year after the City of Toledo spent $277,000 to renovate Roosevelt Pool along
Dorr Street and get it back open to the public, Councilman Tyrone Riley is
taking aim at some brick columns standing poolside.
Tuesday, Riley presented legislation calling for the city to spend $63,950 from
its Parkland Replacement Fund to tear down 17 brick columns still standing
around the pool, which supported the old, enclosed pool.
his legislation, Riley says the columns are obtrusive, unattractive and are an
eyesore, and the measure is needed for the immediate preservation of public
peace, health and safety.
administration has said the work would not happen even if council approves the
spending measure. Riley did not return calls for comment.
