SYCAMORE, OH (Toledo News Now) -
On April 15th, the Mohawk Board of Education voted 3 to 2 against renewing the varsity volleyball coach's contract, but the decision has caused outrage.
More than 1,000 people in the Sycamore area have signed petitions asking the school board to reconsider and renew Eric Hoover's coaching contract.
A parent at the school who collected signatures says this came as a surprise, because Hoover is loved in the community; not to mention he has one of the best coaching records in the surrounding areas.
The board of education has scheduled a special meeting to discuss the issue today.
They will meet at 7 p.m. followed by a public meeting at 8 p.m.
