TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Toledo Police Department conducted another successful target enforcement initiative resulting in more than 100 arrests and more than $15,000 in drugs seized.

From April 12 through 21, the TPD circulated central Toledo in an area bounded by Monroe, Dorr, North Detroit and Upton. The area was chosen because of numerous issues reported, including gang activity, drug sales and traffic violations.

The initiative went on nonstop for 10 days. During that time period, there were 136 arrests, including 24 on-view felony charges. There were five search warrants executed, resulting in $11,000 in drugs confiscated, along with $4,210 in drug proceeds seized. In total, 368 warrants were served on wanted individuals, and 364 traffic citations were issued.

In addition to the police response, other city departments took part by cleaning the area and identifying buildings for demolition.

This comprehensive strategy relied heavily on input from the community. Partnerships with Block Watch and other area organizations were critical in identifying problem locations.

A follow-up with community partners to discuss results of the operation is scheduled for April 30 at 6 p.m. at the Monroe Street United Methodist Church.

The city has conducted similar successful operations around the city, including one in east Toledo at the end of March
