BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Construction of Bowling Green's city pool and water park is running behind schedule.

The water park was supposed to open the first week of June, but now crews are two weeks behind schedule. No date has been set for opening day, but construction crews are working hard to make their June deadline.

The new park will look nothing like the old one. The old pool area was 60 years old and only had two areas to swim. The new area will have four bodies of water for swimming, plenty of shade, a new pool house and even places for children to safely enjoy the summer sun. The major upgrades were possible after a $4.2 million levy passed last summer.

"It will have lots of splash toys out there and something called a 'jumping junior,' so you can put your preschool children in a little seat. They can bounce up and down and their feet will go in the water," said Michelle Grigore, director of Bowling Green's Parks and Recreation Department.

Visitors will have to pay to enter the park. Day and family passes are available for purchase. A six-person pass for the summer will cost around $136.
