Toledo City Council approved a plan on Tuesday to swap
land with Toledo Public Schools, aimed at boosting recreational opportunities.
TPS will be taking control of Optimist Park, the land
located between Waite High School and Front Street, where the Waite Alumni
Association is targeting a new softball field.
The city will be taking control of the former Leverette
Junior High School site along Manhattan Blvd. The Police Athletic League (PAL)
will be spending $250,000 to make the former school gym a stand-alone
recreational facility for the PAL mentoring program.
