NAPOLEON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

One local school district is getting some positive attention from the state, and some say it could be just in time for a levy issue on the ballot next week.

The Napoleon School District is being recognized for a clean audit report. It's an award given to the district for their timely filing of financial reports, and for not having any citations, deficiencies, or questioned costs.

School leaders are hoping this will give voters confidence as they head to the polls next week to vote on a half-percent earned income tax. They say they need that proposal to pass to avoid drastic cuts in the district, which could include teacher layoffs.

"Hopefully this is going to show our taxpayers that we are spending their money wisely, and they can feel safe in making the investment in the school district," said Mike Bostelman, treasurer for the district.
