It's worth noting how rapidly all of the President's men backed off on the air traffic controller furlough plan.
The furloughs were eliminated in about the same amount of time it took the first wave of stranded passengers to work through the mess of being delayed at the airport.
Last week's editorial on this topic generated a lot of responses. Almost every email or phone call I received was critical of the bone-headed strategy to make travelers miserable so we would support higher taxes. I don't know who was responsible for that piece of political wizardry.
It seems to me that Middle America has had enough misery and we are sick of the whining. We also re-learned a valuable lesson. Congress works for us. And if they know we are unhappy enough to hold them responsible for doing dumb stuff, the dumb stuff will go away - quickly.
