TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Dajuandolyn Ramey found herself in the crossfire of a gun battle Thursday afternoon.
The little girl was playing outside her house near Arcadia Street and Detroit Avenue when shots rang out.
"I was just playing in the field, running around in circles," she said. "Yes, I knew it was gunshots. I've heard them before. It makes me sad."
Adds her mother Danita Roddy.
"I'm really blessed because she was right in the midst of it when it was going on. Blessed [she was] able to run and get inside the house," her mother Danita Roddy said.
A bullet from the shootout pierced the hood of Roddy's car.
She wasn't so lucky last fall.
"I was shot in the back," Roddy explained. "A bullet came through my house and hit me in the back in October."
Toledo Police say someone in a vehicle shot at a man in another car in the Arcadia/Detroit area Thursday. Shortly afterward, a man in a Cadillac pulled into the E.R. at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
Arcadia residents say police had cleaned up crime in their neighborhood, but now it's back.
"I guess they were afraid, because they saw the patrol cars around here a lot," said James O'Neil. "Now it's like it's going back to the way it used to be."
