HELENA, OH (Toledo News Now) -
The Ohio State Highway says two people were killed and two others were hurt in an accident near Helena, Ohio Friday.
The accident happened at US 6 and County Road 32 at approximately 4:30 p.m.
John Clark, 56, from Huron, was driving westbound on US 6 in a Dodge Grand Caravan. He crossed the center line and struck a Ford Escape driven by Carlla Dixon-Bowers, 49, from Lima. Dixon-Bowers' vehicle traveled off the south side of the road and came to rest in a ditch.
Clark was flown to St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo, where he later passed away. Dixon-Bowers was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
Cynthia Clark, 55, and Jennifer Clark, 25, both of Huron, were also in the van. They both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported by ambulance to the hospital.
Route 6 was closed for three hours in both directions due to the accident.
All involved were wearing safety belts, and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor. The crash is still under investigation.
