Students from seven elementary schools and three high schools will be putting their taste buds to the test, as they help decide possible new lunch menus for Toledo Public Schools next school year.
Students will test six separate potential menu items and cast a ballot for their top three favorites. Once all the tastings are complete, the votes will be tallied and items that receive the most votes will be considered as a new menu item.
The goal of the tastings is not only to broaden menu options, but increase student participation in the lunch program. All menu items will meet the strict guidelines established by the USDA, which include a minimum daily requirement of dairy, fruits and vegetables.
Schools involved in the taste tests are:
-Larchmont Elementary -Beverly Elementary -Garfield Elementary -Hawkins Elementary -Navarre Elementary -Jones Elementary -Elmhurst Elementary -Whittier Elementary -Bowsher High -Woodward High -Start High
