BG Schools have levy on Tuesday ballot

BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Tuesday is a big day for Bowling Green.

Voters will decide the fate of the Bowling Green Schools levy, without which, school officials say they will have to cut many programs.

Many residents say they want to see the school levy pass.

"We won't be able to put on a musical and support the community, we won't be able to give band concerts or choir concerts," said Declan Wicks, a senior at Bowling Green.

Tuesday will be Wicks' first time voting. He and many other residents say they will be voting in favor of the levy.

"Good education makes good communities," said resident Roger Schope. "Good communities make a great place to live. Bowling Green has historically been one of those great places to live, and I'm sure it will continue to be after the levy vote tomorrow."

In November, residents voted down an income tax levy. This time, the school district is trying for a property tax. The levy would cost the homeowner of a $150,000 home about $25 per month.
