Mental illness affects many Americans, but it is a disease that is not talked about often.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is working to stamp out the stigma associated with mental and emotional illnesses.
Saturday morning, NAMI Walk 2013 of Toledo kicked off at the Medical Center Campus of the University of Toledo.
Thousands of volunteers and sponsors joined together to raise awareness of mental illness and support families affect by it in the local community. Their goal is to improve the quality of life for children and adults who often suffer from diseases like depression silence.
NAMI Walk 2013 of Toledo is sponsored by many national and local businesses. The event from 9:30 a.m. to noon featured activities for the whole family.
Jerry Anderson served as the guest emcee again this year and spoke to some of the walkers live on ‘Your Morning Saturday.'
