TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
The Historic Church of St. Patrick held its 4th annual "Blue Mass" in Toledo on Sunday morning.
The mass honored those in law enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice in Toledo and the surrounding communities.
With the mass gaining popularity each year, this was a way for the parish to thank police and their families for their dedication to protecting the citizens.
"It has always been important to us because this is an Irish parish and everybody has that impression of the Irish cop and the Irish firefighter. This is part of our mission and so we do it that way," said Pastoral Associate David Smith.
The 130 year-old church has two altars, one for police and the other for firefighters.
