Major progress made on reconstruction of Secor Road

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

For those who are experiencing traffic headaches along Secor Road, major progress is being made on that project.

Secor Road is being completely rebuilt between Central Avenue and Interstate 475.

On May 28, two paving companies resumed laying down asphalt. When that is complete, lane markings and pavement striping will finish, to have that section back open on both sides with no barrels.

Andy Exton says while he's been having some longer commutes to and from work, he thinks it's worth it.

"Can't wait for it to be over. I think they've done a good job. The street did need the work. It's nice that it's going to be repaired," said Exton.

There is more work to be done along Secor.

After reviewing the most current weather forecasts, the contractor has decided to switch to daytime paving operation and finish the asphalt paving by the evening of June 5.

According to Steve Hamilton, the project's base course asphalt will be completed June 3 and the intermediate course asphalt will be completed June 4.

Paving of the intersections is expected to be completed June 5. Pavement striping and traffic signal work is scheduled for that night.

The 10-day, I-475 ramp closures are now scheduled to begin at 2 a.m. June 6 and the portion of Secor that has been under construction will have all lanes reopened to traffic.

Drivers should still be aware that the daytime paving will require a large number of asphalt trucks to come and go throughout the day. As they line up to unload, and as the paving operation moves forward, driveways will be blocked for periods of time.
