CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

NFL legend Jim Brown is officially back with the Browns as a Special Advisor for the franchise.

Owner Jimmy Haslam made the announcement during a special news conference at FirstEnergy Stadium on Wednesday morning.

The Hall of Fame running back will have a variety of off-field duties with the team and also within the community.

According to Haslam, having #32 back with the team and the Cleveland community is "tremendously important." Haslam says that Brown is still the man in Cleveland, and carries a lot of respect among current NFL players.

Brown said he is happy to be back with the Cleveland Browns, and also said he likes Jimmy Haslam because he doesn't bite his tongue.

He added that he is here to help the Cleveland Browns win games.

Brown was Cleveland's number one draft choice in 1957 out of Syracuse, where he starred in both football and lacrosse.   He went on to fulfill his storied NFL career, which included leading the NFL in rushing in eight of his nine seasons.  He appeared in nine straight Pro Bowls and was named the NFL's MVP three times (1957, 1958 & 1965).  Brown owns team records for most combined net yards (15,459), career rushing yards (12,312), most points in one season (126), career TDs (126), rushing TDs (106), most consecutive games scoring a TD (10) and most 1,000 yard seasons (7).
