Columbus, OH (WOIO) - Gordon Gee's insensitive comments aimed at Notre Dame and Catholics last December have divided the university, according to top trustees at Ohio State.
According to a letter obtained by the Associated Press, the trustees wrote to Gee on March 11th, saying his comments risk diminishing the collective efforts of the university and of Gee's own good work.
Gee told OSU's athletic council in December that the reason Notre Dame wasn't invited to join the Big Ten was that "the fathers are holy on Sundays, but they're holy hell the rest of the week...You can't trust those damn Catholics on a Thursday or Friday."
Gee has apologized, saying he was trying to be funny.
