TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Chili and mold could have put a bad taste in your mouth if health inspectors hadn't caught it in a cooler at a local diner. There are plenty of other violators and nonviolators to showcase in this week's Restaurant Ratings Report.
Grace's Kitchen on North Summit Street in north Toledo was quick to correct violations inspectors found. Violations included raw shell eggs stored above batters, no date marking on certain foods, plus employee belongings sitting on top of a storage shelf.
Olga's Kitchen on Monroe Street in west Toledo had three violations, but one needed immediate attention: clean plateware. During the May 21 visit, inspectors found the dish machine no longer hooked up to the sanitizer.
Arnie's Again on West Central Avenue in west Toledo racked up a few violations. Inspectors found improper date marking and described chili in a cooler with "white growth" on it. There was also no hot water at the bar hand sink and a lot of build up on soda guns.
Star Diner on West Alexis Road in west Toledo leads this week's report with 16 violations. Inspectors found a broken freezer, mislabeled dates, dirty food bins, dust and debris on the walls, along with a damaged wall by the grill line.
Now to the good news.
No violations were found at Mango Tree on South Reynolds Road in south Toledo during its inspection last month.
The same goes for Al Ahmed's Steakhouse on West Alexis Road. Inspectors call the restaurant clean and well-maintained.
If you crave food that is light and fresh, Firehouse Subs on Monroe Street is the place to visit with no violations to be found.
