Ribbon-cutting ceremony held for new Toledo senior housing complex
TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday for a new senior apartment complex in central Toledo located along Division Street.
The new 65-unit senior facility is the first phase of the Collingwood Green neighborhood. Residents will begin to move in later this month. It's a $12 million project, which aims to change perceptions about the Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority, and the type of living options provided by it.
"We started looking at what we could do to make a change not only that we wanted to bring something new, something different to the central city," said Linnie Willis, LMHA executive director.
LMHA hopes to secure funding and break ground early next year on phase two of the Collingwood Green development, which will include town houses for lower-income families.
