DETROIT, MI (Toledo News Now) -

Detroit native Jack White was revealed to be the anonymous donor who paid $142,000 to save Detroit's Masonic Temple.

The temple owed the money in taxes and was facing foreclosure, according to the Detroit Free Press. Now, the temple's Cathedral Theater will be renamed the Jack White Theater in his honor.

White has performed several times at the former Cathedral Theater, and according to Rolling Stone, his mother worked there as an usher when he was younger.

Rolling Stone also said White was suspected to be the anonymous donor of $170,000 used to repair a baseball field at Detroit's Clark Park in 2009.
