Adrian residents pick up pieces after apartment fire

Posted: Updated:
ADRIAN, MI (Toledo News Now) -

Three days after a fire destroyed an Adrian apartment building, some of the two dozen residents affected returned to their homes to see what's left.

It could be months before the building is ready for tenants to move back in. Employees say they have to completely remodel the inside.

Residents returned Friday with boxes to see what possessions could be saved.

One man was in Oklahoma when the tornado hit. David Alm was making his way back to Adrian when he got a call that his apartment was on fire.

"To get back up here and see it, to see the damage that's done and that you've lost everything," Alm said. "You think you're coming back to a home, and now you don't have one. It's very heart-wrenching."

Those who wish to help can donate to the Red Cross of Lenawee and Washtenaw Counties.
