The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a 2-vehicle accident Monday on SR 25 at Cygnet Road, in Henry Township.
James Giles, 74, of Carey, OH, was driving a Ford Explorer southbound on SR 25. According to OSHP, Giles went off the right side of 25, into a ditch, and then came back on the road, going airborne onto Cygnet Road.
Giles' vehicle struck a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Reed Langton, 30, of Monroe. Langton was traveling eastbound on Cygnet Road when he was struck on the driver side by Giles' vehicle.
Giles' vehicle then went off the left side of Cygnet Road, where it overturned and came to rest on the driver side in a field.
Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, and the Jaws of Life were used to extricate both. Giles sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital by North Baltimore EMS. Langton also sustained serious injuries and was transported by medical helicopter to the hospital.
No charges have been filed at this time. Alcohol is not a factor in the accident, but the cause is still under investigation.
