season has begun, and with it, more dangers for children. Tragedy was narrowly
avoided Monday afternoon in Springfield Township, when a 2-year-old girl was
rescued from a pool just in time.
responded to a 911 call, but when they got there, the scene on Holloway Road had
already played out.
McGovern was watching her grandson and her granddaughter's boyfriend's two children.
One of those was 2-year-old Bella Brandon.

explained. "And I said, ‘Oh my God, no!'"
said the children were only supposed to be playing in a small kiddie pool, but
Bella ended up at the bottom of the big pool. At that moment, McGovern's adult
grandson Dustin Bomer arrived.
just screamed and turned away, and I said, ‘Get her no matter what,'" McGovern
pulled Bella out just in time. She did not have to be resuscitated, but she was
taken to ProMedica Toledo to get checked out.
says the little girl was like a granddaughter to her.
feel pretty lucky," she said. "If nothing else ever goes right for me, God's
done His job, and I'll be grateful."
admitted the ladder was left too close to the pool. If she had moved it further
away, Bella would not have fallen in.
