ST. LOUIS (RNN) – Four people have been killed in what police called a murder-suicide shooting inside a downtown business on Thursday afternoon.
The St. Louis Police Department confirmed two women and two men - including the shooter - had died at the scene.
Capt. Michael Sack said the victims all appeared to be in their 40s or 50s, and police believe the shooter was possibly a co-owner of the business.
All three victims were employees where the shooting occurred, AK Home Healthcare, LLC.
Investigators recovered a semiautomatic handgun and said there was no active search for another shooter.
"After investigation to include a review of the surveillance video from the building, we've determined that this is a murder-suicide," Sack said in a news conference. "The gentleman who killed the other three people inside the office appeared to have an argument with the others and then at some point opened fire with the weapon."
A person inside the building reportedly heard the gunfire and called 911.
Police told KTVI shots were fired in the Cherokee Place Business Incubator.
The shooting occurred only in AK Home Healthcare, LLC, but there are a number of other businesses in the building.
The healthcare business has been in the building for two years, and Sack said police weren't aware of any prior incidences at that location.
Police were not aware of any other injuries.
