Red Cross director returns from OK with ideas

FINDLAY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Todd James just returned from a 10-day deployment to tornado-torn Oklahoma. He says it was an eye-opening experience.

James is the executive director of the Hancock County Red Cross. His job on deployment was to let people affected by the disaster know where and how they can get help. He helped people locate lost items, and find transportation and long-term assistance.

But he also picked up a few ideas for his local chapter while he was there. He plans to implement Multi-agency Resource Center (MARC) for future disasters in northwest Ohio. MARC is a way for people to get all the help they need in one location.

For James, the work is fulfilling, and there's nothing else he'd rather be doing.

"Whether it's here locally when we help a family out after a fire or flood, or being out on one of these larger-scale disasters…it really does let you know that every little thing you do makes a difference," he said. "I don't know any better feeling."
