NAPOLEON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Each month, dozens of people in Napoleon have their power shut off after being unable to pay their bills. Now, there's a new effort to keep that from happening.

The city is teaming up with local charities to help more families pay their bills. The program will start within the next couple months.

When Napoleon residents pay their utility bills, they'll have the option to round up to the next dollar. The extra change will be pooled together and donated by the city to a local organization that already helps families in need.

"We know that we have people struggling out there," said City Manager Jon Bisher. "This might be a way that our utility could actually help in funding of those programs."

The city is still working out the details and choosing a charity to work with.
