The US Coast Guard rescued a 63-year-old man early Sunday morning in Lake Erie near Meinkes Marina.
The man's wife had reported to Brownstown, MI police that she had not heard from him since he left to go fishing on Saturday morning.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Dept. located the man's vehicle and trailer at the Bolles Harbor boat ramp and a Coast Guard boat was launched from the Toledo Coast Guard station. More Coast Guard crews and a Coast Guard helicopter were also later sent out.
At 6:40am Sunday, a person reported the man was stranded on an overturned boat.
His boat had reportedly overturned around 5pm the previous day in a squall.
The Coast Guard safely removed the man from the overturned boat and took him to Meinkes Marina in Anchor Point, OH to meet with emergency medical services.
The man's name has not been released. He was wearing a life jacket.
