The house on Hawthorne was set on fire Saturday around 4 a.m. Owner Edward Taylor, who bought his first house in 2010, said he was renovating the house and preparing to move in, but will now have to start all over again. He said he has put nearly $30,000 into renovations, recently installing new walls, kitchen, and carpet.
"I was just fixing to move in, two weeks from now, but now this happened. So, now I got to start all over again. I've got to rebuild," said Taylor.
With no insurance, Taylor has set up a fund at Huntington Bank to help rebuild his home. He is just one of the victims impacted by arson in Toledo.
"With a string of them like we've had, we want to get out in front of these, and that's why we ask the public for their help," explained Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld.
Hertzfeld said arsons put lives in danger, not only for those who live in the home, but firefighters who respond. That's why they are asking for your help in solving these crimes.
"Citizens remain vigilant in their neighborhoods. They're the eyes and ears of the fire departments in their neighborhoods," said Hertzfeld.
