TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -
When dining out, you'll
probably never hear a customer ask for a large order of dust with a cup of
grease and a side of dirt. But that's what a lot of restaurants are serving in
this week's Restaurant Ratings Report.
Basic maintenance is top
priority for a number of restaurants, including Marco's Pizza on South Avenue
in south Toledo, where inspectors found six violations. The pizza oven needs a
thorough cleaning and wet rags sitting on tabletops and coolers need to be put
elsewhere, or they can lead to a bed of bacteria. The inspector also caught an
employee eating pizza in the same area food is prepared.
The rest of this week's focus is on west Toledo.
Only one violation was
found at the China Garden Buffet on West Alexis Road. Cleaning
is needed, as dust coats the restaurant's vent system, as well as ceiling
Five violations were found
at the Asiana Restaurant on Lewis Avenue. What stands out the
most is the inspector strongly demanded employees clean and scrub floors to
eliminate grease, dirt and the overall extreme build-up throughout the
Jo Jo's Famous Chili Dogs
on North Byrne Road racked up the most violations this week. Its
10 violations include unused equipment in the facility, water-damaged
ceilings, no paper towels at a sink, a broken thermometer and cooler, plus a
licensed repair service needs to be called for necessary repairs.
None of these violations are a problem for two fast food chains on Toledo's west side. No violations were found at
the Arby's and Chipotle on Talmadge Road near the Franklin Park Mall.
