SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -
Police have renewed efforts to solve a Sylvania Township homicide from 2012.
On June 21, shortly before 10:30 p.m., Sylvania Township Police were called to a house in the 3300 block of Waldmar Road, where a man was shot during a robbery. Homeowner Darryl Stipes later died from his three gunshot wounds at the hospital.
Police say Stipes called 911 after he had been shot, saying two men wearing hoodies did it.
About a month after his death, Stipes' family and friends organized a fundraiser in his memory. They collected $2,000 in hopes of motivating someone to come forward and help solve the crime. Now the reward has been increased to $5,000.
To date, this homicide case has remained unsolved. The Sylvania Township Police Department is asking for any information that will lead to an arrest in this case. Call 419-882-2055 or CrimeStopper at 419-255-1111.
