More progress is being made in the slow but steady
transformation of the former Jeep Parkway site.
Over the past three years, the Toledo-Lucas County Port
Authority has worked to redevelop the site, now called the Overland Industrial
Construction crews are currently installing water and
sewer lines and getting ready to pave a new access road. The port has a commitment
from AirGas to build a new regional headquarters there, as well as a commitment
to build a spec building aimed at attracting a manufacturing operation.
Port Authority President Paul Toth says the redevelopment
project is important to the community, to show new life at the former Jeep
"We've done the environmental remediation. We've removed
a hundred years worth of foundations and building slabs," Toth said. "What
we're accomplishing today is putting the new access road in, new water, sewer,
gas, electric, all utilities needed to get the site ready for private
Toth says vertical construction is expected to start in
the very near future.
